About USP-Alcatraz.net

Welcome to USP-Alcatraz.net, a website dedicated to preserving and presenting the history of Alcatraz Island and its years as one of America’s most famous federal prisons.

This site is being built as a detailed historical resource covering the inmates, wardens, correctional officers, escape attempts, daily prison life, major events, photographs, records, and stories connected to Alcatraz.

Our goal is to go beyond the legends and movies by organizing the history of Alcatraz in a way that is easy to explore, understand, and research. New inmate biographies, historical photographs, prison records, escape reports, timelines, and other features are being added regularly.

The About section is currently under development.

Please check back soon for more information about the purpose of the site, the research behind it, the sources used, and the ongoing effort to document the complete history of USP Alcatraz.

Thank you for visiting USP-Alcatraz.net and helping keep the history of “The Rock” alive.
